@morningad So sad, I started my working life in one of the country’s first Brewers Fayre pub restaurants, some 40 years ago. Soup, steak, and a Black Forest gateau for under £5. I was also there opening the 400th site in Wales, happy days.
If you have a plan 2 student loan, pay income tax, and national insurance these are your marginal tax rates.
After £28k -> 41%,
After £50k -> 51%,
After £100k -> 71%,
That is not including the loss of child related benefits.
What incentive is there to work more?
@MartinSLewis I’ve been with Direct Line for a number of years, with no luck getting a reduction. However this year now Aviva own them, they are just like the rest, and I got a good discount this year.
@SimonCalder Yes, a few years ago now at the Marriott Lisbon, lady showering as I walked into the room, made a swift exit. Also happened to me 3 times in one night at a Hilton in LA. Someone said that cash paying guests aren’t always registered hence the room being unexpectedly occupied
Waitrose install checkout cameras, a few weeks later add a little yellow sign saying “we trust our customers…”
So the very presence of the yellow sign and the camera says that they do not trust us.
Just stop insulting us by saying we trust you, when you don’t.
