Caution ⚠️: No one is against anyone earning an honest living. Livelihood deserves respect. But does that justify occupying roads and footpaths?
A food stall doesn't just occupy space. It often becomes the starting point of another problem. One paper plate today. Plastic waste tomorrow. Food waste next. Gradually, garbage piles up, drains get choked and when it rains, it's the same flooding again.
Then we ask why Guwahati floods so easily in just one spell of rain!
And, this isn't about one location. It's the same story across GS Road, Ganeshguri, Hatigaon, Six Mile, Maligaon, Zoo Road and many other parts of the city.
Basic necessities need practical solutions, not convenient compromises. If food stalls are a source of livelihood, then the administration must provide designated vending zones instead of allowing roads and footpaths to become commercial spaces.
Otherwise, let's stop acting surprised every time Guwahati floods. If we keep creating the very conditions that choke our drains and block our roads, then every monsoon will be the same.

#WATCH | Puri, Odisha: The morning Aarti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra was performed atop their three chariots in front of the Gundicha temple.
Despite receiving abundant rainfall every year, Assam continues to face the paradox of water scarcity in many areas, declining groundwater levels and recurring urban flooding. This highlights the urgent need to conserve and manage rainwater more effectively.
Under the visionary guidance of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, India has made remarkable progress in promoting rainwater conservation and sustainable water management.
Inspired by this vision, AMRUT Assam has launched the #CatchTheRain campaign- a people's movement to transform every drop of rain into a valuable resource for building a water secure and climate resilient Assam.
Delighted to see inspiring stories like that of Shri Goldip Timung, a former Cotton University student, who has demonstrated that agriculture offers immense opportunities for educated youth.
Cultivating pineapples on nearly 50 bighas of land, he has not only built a successful enterprise but has also created livelihood opportunities for 20-25 people. His journey is a shining example of how innovation, hard work, and determination can transform farming into a source of prosperity and employment.
Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Shri Goldip Timung. May his success inspire many more young people to take up agriculture with confidence and pride

these sacred pots containing the sweet & spicy drink are broken infront of the lord as a bhog which symbolically feeds the ghosts, pretas, rakshas or even the trapped souls.
It is believed that this drink liberates these beings !
LAATON KE BHOOT, BAATON SE....
Darjeeling Municipality is now actively fining tourists who are littering in public places, and not dumping in designated dustbins.
This is an excellent initiative.
We request all locals - especially drivers, hotel and restaurant and other businesses to actively co-operate, and inform all tourists that there is a fine for littering in public.
We thank and applaud all those who are involved in enforcing this noble initiative.
