Dedication and consistency really do pay off.
If thereโs one thing I want you to take from my story, itโs this:
DONโT GIVE UP ON YOUR GOAL.
It may take longer than you expected.
You may get rejected more times than you can count.
That persistence led me to the final stage of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh, from a pool of over 14,000 African applicants...
and eventually to becoming one of 42 scholars selected for UBC from over 11,000 applicants across Africa.
I graduated with a Second Class Upper and faced several rejections and setbacks while applying for scholarships. Erasmus, Chevening, Commonwealth, cold emails, Mastercardโฆ You name it.๐ฅบ
But I NEVER gave up.๐ช
Wow. ๐ฅน Seeing my journey broken down like this really made me pause.
Reading this, I realized that people see the outcome, but there is so much of the journey they do not see.
The rejections. The applications I almost didn't submit. The essays I rewrote.
A First Class is great, but a strong Second Class paired with the right strategy, leadership, and impact can absolutely win global, fully-funded scholarships.
If you have been self-rejecting because of your CGPA, you need to read this incredible success story. ๐งต๐
