Really good partners’ meeting with @NCIME_CNFMSA Governing Board. Looking forward to their leadership in our collaborating and learning together along the path to reconciliation
When I was inducted as @CMA_Docs' first Indigenous President, my mom reminded me that I needed to “own my power” and embrace the belief that I could help make health systems better. I had a responsibility to the people who’d cleared the path before me to live up to their expectations.
The CMA’s recent announcement of an apology process, focused on the harm the health care system has caused Indigenous Peoples, is a needed step on the path of reconciliation.
Today, on Indigenous People’s Day, I want to recognize the importance of this apology process, and celebrate those who have worked tirelessly to lay a path to today. Our next steps will be heavy. The harm to Indigenous patients, families and communities is real. Together we can bear the weight of each step, remembering that the progress we make is achieved together.
Can you name the most important event of your career? I can. Meeting the phenomenal @LingardLorelei. Great to see her recognized at the #AFMCAwards with the President’s Award for Exemplary National Leadership. @SchulichMedDent@westernuCERI
@drgigiosler@MarciaJAnderson Congratulations Senator Osler. Gigi, it is wonderful news to have another strong, articulate and dedicated voice in the Upper Chamber
Thank you to Elder Albert for bringing his truth and words of wisdom to last evening’s MCC Awards Dinner. His words were even more poignant as they came on the eve of our National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Thank you Elder Albert for your prayer.
My privilege to attend MCC Awards dinner with past and present colleagues. What incredibly talented people and so good to know there are such amazing leaders coming through our undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs. Congratulations to all the awardees.
