I had earlier raised this issue with the @ECISVEEP through a representation in the larger public interest and once again reiterate the need for a separate electoral form for re-enrolment/restoration of previously registered electors whose names have been deleted.

An existing elector should not be treated as a “new voter” merely because their name was deleted due to an administrative error or other circumstances. The process should preserve the elector’s historical EPIC/electoral linkage and continuity of electoral records, while enabling proper verification and restoration.

The ECI should view such suggestions not as criticism, but as constructive inputs from the ground to strengthen the electoral system. A rigid approach to established procedures, despite feedback from field workers, volunteers and affected electors, can create avoidable hardship.

Ground realities should be taken into consideration in policy-making, and the experiences and suggestions of those working on the ground should meaningfully influence necessary policy decisions and reforms.

Electoral laws and procedures must evolve with changing times and ground realities. A responsive institution should be willing to listen, learn and reform wherever genuine procedural difficulties are identified.

No genuine elector should suffer or lose their electoral history because of an administrative or procedural lapse.

Why should genuine electors suffer for the mistakes of BLOs and administrative lapses? If an elector duly submitted an Enumeration Form but was nevertheless wrongly marked ASDD and deleted from the Draft Roll, why should they be asked to submit Form-6 as a “new voter”? This is completely unjustified and ridiculous.

The Election authorities must first inquire into how and why such electors were marked ASDD and deleted despite submission of their Enumeration Forms, identify the officials responsible for such lapses, and take appropriate action.

The remedy cannot be to make the victim bear the burden of an administrative error. Wrongfully deleted electors must have their existing electoral records/EPIC restored through due process, subject to verification, rather than being forced to re-enrol as new voters.

Accountability must precede re-enrolment. Genuine voters must not be punished for administrative mistakes. #SIR2026 #Telangana #ElectoralRoll

ASEEM & ADALAH have urged @ECISVEEP and the CEO, Telangana, to immediately reschedule SIR-2026 hearings reportedly fixed for 26 August, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, a declared public holiday.
Affected electors must be informed of the revised date, time & venue.
Our representation also seeks:
• 15 clear days’ notice from actual receipt
• Fresh notices where notices are defective/incomplete
• Additional time/second hearing for genuine document requirements
• No mechanical disposal of cases
• Uniform SOP for notices & hearings
• Extension of the timeline, if necessary, to ensure a meaningful hearing
Administrative timelines must not come at the cost of an elector’s right to a fair and meaningful hearing.
