This was the MOU signing ceremony with Mohamed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, for the grant of MVR 771 million in development assistance to the Maldives on 9 March 2020.
We need a leader who can build strong international partnerships and bring meaningful aid, assistance, and opportunities to the Maldives from around the world.
Happy International Day of #WomenInDiplomacy!
Under my Presidency of the UNGA, I convened a dialogue with women diplomats from various Missions. They raised some important points
1⃣that women diplomats have contributed significantly to global diplomacy, and international negotiations
2⃣that they continue to face a number of challenges, some specific to the field of diplomacy, but within the broader context as well
From these discussions was born the idea of an International Day to address these issues.
I was honoured to preside over the meeting that adopted the Maldives led resolution with the co-sponsorship of 191 Member States,
Today, I congratulate the courage and perseverance of women diplomats here in the Maldives and around the world. And underscore the need to continue efforts to address gender discrimination, violence against women, and structural inequalities that continue to hinder women's full and meaningful participation in public life.
Congratulations, @MDPSecretariat, on turning 21.
You have celebrated victories, endured grief, and continued to serve our nation. You have stood the test of time and survived adversity with resilience.
You are our nation’s oldest and most resilient political party. May you continue to remain strong, principled, and committed to the people of the Maldives.
