I've heard the Spotify guild system (of which I'm a huge fan) criticized by ppl who think it's "matrix management" (where you have 2 or more bosses). That's entirely wrong. Self-managing teams have no bosses. Guilds are a way for self-managing teams to align & synchronize.

Ppl talk about the horrors of system rewrites. Ppl do bad work all the time, tho. Rewrites are no exception. If the original system was so good, why was a rewrite on the table? A company that's done it badly once will certainly be primed to do it just as badly the second time.

I do collaborative trunk-based dev. We commit/push every 10 minutes or so, and use feature flags to hide unfinished things. That way of working is very effective, and is impossible to do with a PR-triggered code review—a waterfall gate at its worst. Collaboration rules!
