Research to date clearly states yes to ‘play’, why?
1. Allows children to create and break their own rules
2. Encourages children to use their imagination and re-tell their learning story
3. There is no space between play and learning
‘There are no external reward systems such as star charts, stickers or prizes in a Froebelian approach. Rather, children’s own efforts and achievements and their pleasure in others’ response to small acts of kindness are considered more powerful incentives than external rewards’.
We worked together to find a way of measuring the distance that our marshmallows travelled. Lano was the winner, her marshmallow measured over 30 pencils long.
