1. MISSING RECORDS SHOULD NOT ERASE THE TRUTH
Many families are trying to prove events that happened decades ago, in a system where records may now be incomplete or missing.
The current scheme itself recognises a balance-of-probabilities approach in some eligibility decisions, including cases where infection occurred after screening was introduced.
So the question is simple:
How do we make sure missing paperwork does not become a barrier to recognising what happened?
A destroyed file does not mean the treatment never happened.
A missing test does not erase a person’s history.
And families should not be expected to produce evidence that no longer exists.
Absence of paperwork is not absence of harm.

TRANSPARENCY SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD TO ASK FOR.
People affected by the infected blood scandal should not have to piece the process together through phone calls, screenshots, rumours and community conversations.
They should not be left comparing ages, categories, circumstances and invite dates just to try to work out whether the system is being applied fairly.
This is exactly why trust is being damaged.
When answers are unclear, anxiety grows.
When explanations do not match lived experience, confidence falls.
When people are left guessing, the harm does not stop — it deepens.
The community is not asking for special treatment.
It is asking for clarity, consistency and honesty.
So we ask again:
@IBCA_UK@SteJitsu
Why are people still being left to work this out for themselves?

DEATH CANNOT BE TREATED AS A FOOTNOTE.
For families of people who died following infected blood, compensation is about more than numbers.
It is about recognition.
Recognition that somebody was here.
Recognition that their life was changed.
Recognition that their family lost them.
Recognition that death itself matters.
Families should not have to keep explaining why an injury award and recognition of a death are not the same thing.
We will keep raising this question:
Where is the proper recognition for those who did not survive?
Their names matter.
Their lives matter.
Their deaths matter.
And we will keep saying it until that is properly addressed.

I may be on holiday today — but I am still here, still pressing the issues being left unanswered.
The government may get to switch off.
IBCA may get to step away from the emails, the questions and the damage being done.
We do not.
Our trauma does not get left on the runway.
We carry it everywhere we go.
Into our homes.
Into our work.
Into our sleep.
Into every day we are still waiting for answers.
And for many, this process has not eased that trauma — it has made it worse.
So while I may be away, I am not silent.
And I am not stepping back from the truth.
Will you sit back and watch — or will you stand with us and keep pressing for answers?
@andyburnham did you enjoy new York? could you maybe ask ibca why aren't estates paid yet why are young people receive priority over the elderly still waiting

WHY DO YOU NOT THINK HEPATITIS B IS SERIOUS ENOUGH?
Have you seen the evidence?
Have you looked at the reality of chronic hepatitis B — the liver damage, cirrhosis, liver cancer risk, reactivation, co-infection concerns and the long-term impact on families?
Too many affected people feel hepatitis B is still being treated like an afterthought, when the evidence shows it can be serious, life-changing and in some cases devastating.
If decisions are being made about people’s lives, then hepatitis B must be understood properly, assessed fairly and treated with the seriousness it deserves.
Hepatitis B is not a side issue.
It is not a lesser issue.
And it should not be dismissed.

Good to see communities being given the chance to speak directly about what they have endured and what they need now.
Those affected by the infected blood scandal are asking for that same kind of meaningful, ongoing engagement — not simply meetings, but conversations that lead to clear answers and visible action.
Different scandals, different histories, but one principle should be the same: the people who lived through the harm, and the families still living with its consequences, must be heard.@Rocasfi@andyburnham
What is the one thing you wish decision-makers understood about the infected blood scandal?
Not tariffs. Not forms. Not statistics.
The human reality.
Finish this sentence:
“I wish they understood…”
Your voice matters.

WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL YOU ARRANGE A MEETING WITH THE COMMUNITY.
People affected by the infected blood scandal deserve more than silence, distance and second-hand updates.
If decisions are being made that affect lives, then the community must be heard directly.
We are asking for a proper meeting — with honesty, transparency and real engagement.
@andyburnham@downingstreet@UKHouseofLords@cabinetofficeuk@No10North
Listen to the people living this.
Listen to the families carrying this.
Listen to the community demanding answers.
We will not stop until that meeting happens.

That’s a really important point. The Government’s current position is that the compensation tariffs themselves are based on 2023/24 rates and are not routinely uprated with CPI, even where someone receives their award years later. Future periodic payments are CPI-linked, but that doesn’t answer the concern about people waiting until 2027, 2028 or beyond before their claim is even settled. The longer the delays become, the harder that distinction is to justify to the people actually waiting.
Why should infection type, age or where someone sits on a family tree determine the value of the harm they suffered?
Children became carers. Partners watched loved ones deteriorate. Parents buried children. Siblings lost brothers and sisters.
The scheme uses tariffs based on categories, age and circumstances.
But grief doesn’t become cheaper at 18.
Trauma doesn’t disappear because you’re a sibling.
Years of caring don’t matter less because you were “affected” rather than infected.
If the formula produces those outcomes, it deserves scrutiny.

Thousands of families affected by infected blood have spent decades explaining what happened to them.
Now many are being asked to prove events from 30, 40 or 50 years ago.
Records may disappear.
People’s experiences do not.
Their voices still matter.
@andyburnham this community needs help where are you haven’t families suffered enough people are beyond themselves and feel so ignored it isn’t right

Today’s read from The Unheard Voice looks at the documented history of hepatitis in UK dialysis units and asks an important question: do we really know who everyone affected was?
If dialysis forms part of your family’s history, your records and experiences may matter.

The infected blood scandal caused trauma for decades.
The compensation process should not be creating more.
People are describing anxiety, sleepless nights, fear of missing emails, repeated requests for evidence, long silences and uncertainty about when — or whether — their case will move.
For some families, compensation was supposed to represent recognition.
Instead, the process itself is becoming another chapter of the harm.
That should concern everyone.
