@MarkJonesFINNZ @murtsshellfish@CoastalPO The on-vessel hardware is your phone. The data being collected is very minimal and would fit neatly in a back end database of only a few database tables. I just can’t see where the money would have been spent. P.s. it was 1.8 million on 31st October. I expect it’s over 2 by now.
@CoastalPO@LukePollard@The_MMO ...tried to contact them. Fisherman still use my app which I created for about 800 GBP. God knows how they managed to spend 1.8 million (and counting). @ThroughTheGaps Fishing News Live wrote a short article which you may want to read https://t.co/NGUw9NcKk8
@CoastalPO@LukePollard@The_MMO Hi @LukePollard, I’m from a fishing family in Cornwall and I developed iCatch which already allows fisherman to submit returns to @The_MMO and IFCA Cornwall. Ifca fully support the app, mmo never replied when I emailed them multiple times...
Looking for iOS users to test the new version of the iCatch app. Record your shellfish catch and submit returns at the touch of a button to both the MMO (MSAR1) and IFCA (cornwall).
@FRELLIEPW40@murtsshellfish Cheers Buck, have just sent you an invite via email. Install TestFlight from the email first then click the iCatch link in the email again to add iCatch to the TestFlight list. Any problems, let me know.
@SCTNewlyn It’s the only app I know of. I’m from a fishing family in Padstow and my brother @murtsshellfish first put forward the idea to me. Returns are not stored on the phone, but securely in the cloud, linked by your mobile num so doesn’t matter if phone is lost or breaks.
We’ve updated the @The_MMO MSAR1 shellfish return which iCatch generates to the latest format which now includes the “nil return” box. https://t.co/lTu2tYJ0rC
Apologies if you’ve tried to create a new account in the app for submitting returns to Cornwall IFCA - we had a registration bug which prevented new sign-ups. All sorted now.
