NEW: Dallas man slips handcuffs, steals patrol car with officer inside, then jumps from moving cruiser on I-35
On May 30, 2026, Dallas police pulled over 37-year-old Stacey Huffman for a registration violation and arrested him for an invalid license, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
While handcuffed in the back of the patrol SUV, Huffman slipped one hand free, climbed through the partition into the driver’s seat, and took off with an officer still inside.
The officer deployed his Taser, but Huffman ripped out the wires and drove erratically on I-35.
After a short distance, Huffman opened the driver’s door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.
He was knocked unconscious and remains hospitalized under police guard.
Once released from the hospital, he will face additional felony charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and escape from custody.
