I've been thinking about maybe putting together a guide of sorts for how to "correctly" play and enjoy the game, but in general I find there are about seven (very loose) Rules for success in Marathon:

1. Always keep your cool, especially when winning.
2. No pocket watching.
3. Fair fights are for chumps.
4. Map knowledge is a weapon, hone it.
5. Take your fights as slowly as you need to. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
6. Alliances are good. Dead enemy crews are better.
7. No Runner left behind. No exceptions.
