The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday suspended the licence of Mumbai’s iconic Parsi Dairy Farm at Marine Lines after an inspection allegedly found hygiene violations.

Established in 1916, Parsi Dairy Farm is the latest among the city’s heritage food establishments to face regulatory action. The FDA had recently suspended the licences of K. Rustom’s ice cream parlour, as well as the Shalimar and Noor Mohammadi restaurants, over hygiene-related violations.

Breaking: Chief minister C Joseph Vijay has ordered the closure of 717 TASMAC liquor outlets functioning within 500 metres of places of worship, educational institutions and bus stands across Tamil Nadu within two weeks.

According to the government, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation currently operates 4,765 retail liquor shops in the state. Following directions from the chief minister, officials conducted an inspection to identify outlets located near temples, schools, colleges and bus termini.

The survey found 276 shops near places of worship, 186 near educational institutions and 255 near bus stands, taking the total to 717 outlets.

Convoy vehicles deployed at TVK leader Vijay’s residence were withdrawn from his office in Foreshore Estate on Wednesday night, while AIADMK MLAs were shifted to a hotel in Ariyankuppam in Puducherry following a meeting chaired by former chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Wednesday.
