The EU truly lives on another planet.

Lets say one buys small tech items that are worth only a few pennies - now there’s a 3€ custom tax on it. For a product I’d normally buy for a few cents and don’t get produced in the EU anyway..
or I can buy the exact same product in a 100 pieces package for 15€ at some mismanaged retail store.

Essentially means that you can no longer DIY stuff or repair things as the import tax of several items quickly add up.

Also think about smaller stores that buy necessary items in small quantities; actual tech shops and so on - they will no longer be able to buy the necessary supplies at a value which made repairing tech feasible..

Your magic plan strengthens intermediaries (importers, traders, Amazon) at the expense of the consumer's pocket (markups). Ironically, these intermediaries are highly automated and capital intensive: it does zero for labour.

What if, instead, you strike the problem at the root? Cut bureaucracy and streamline processes to boost cheaper EU manufacturing.

Or if you truly believe this is the way, show the data and hold yourself accountable.

Day after day, the EU becomes more extractive, stagnant, and hard to live in.

this whole EU charge of 3€ per unique item coming from outside of Europe is such a huge blow to average people, but especially Ireland - most items you can buy online (even from IE branded sites like https://t.co/9s1pm1GwdV) ship from the UK and therefore will get the extra charge. Because of our location, a lot of EU countries won’t ship to us or charge extortionate shipping fees for doing so. why are we getting disproportionately punished during a cost of living crisis for living on an island off an island??

La mayoría de la gente compramos en Aliexpress, Shein, Temu, entre otras tiendas especializadas (en mi caso lentillas y cosplay) no por comprar toneladas de cosas, es que muchas veces son productos que SOLO hay en Asia o el precio era MUCHO menor.

Oye que la gente compra cosas más allá de ropa en el shein. Yo muchos productos de skincare coreano me los compraba por yesstyle, tambn usaba aliexpres/shein para comprar organizadores, decoración y accesorios que aquí en España no venden xD
