🤣 It is. We get a peek with Genesis 50:20- Josephs brothers had a plan, and God had a plan- the same event in history had two wills behind it- the brothers, and Gods. It was God using the evil will of the brothers to accomplish His will, his decree of getting Israel as sojourners for 400 years Gen. 15:13. One event- two wills- God accomplished His will as prophesied. Same with Isaiah 10 and Assyria. Assyria had its plan, its goal and will- but it was God who raised them up- to punish Israel- and then turns around and punishes Assyria for not giving credit to Yahweh. Two wills- one event- God accomplishes His decree through evil men. Those aren’t the only examples- Gods will gets accomplished- and He doesn’t explain these things, they are secret- but we get a peek in scripture, for those willing to look.
Thanks Craig- hello again friend! Biblical free will has no conflict with Gods omniscience- correct. Our cultures definition of free will as libertarian free will or worse- autonomous free will- are thoroughly unbiblical, and impossible, given omniscience. God knows because He created us and has a decree. He doesn’t learn what we will do and THEN know it
First of all- you’re going to throw out clear teaching of Jesus in John 3, 6, 8, and 10 on the order in which it works, that first you are born from above, but until then you are not of God and can’t hear the words of God (John 8:47). Furthermore in the OT- Dt 30:6 “Moreover Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.“ (Deuteronomy 30:6, LSB)
The circumcising is not a reaction on Gods part to the peoples action of loving God with all their hearts and all their souls. Rather, God is circumcising the heart in order that they may love him with all their hearts and souls!
As well as Jeremiah 31:33 and 32:39-40-In these passages, it’s only when God writes the law within and places a fear of God in their hearts that they will follow, not turn away from Him.
Your view is popular, but absolutely not Biblical. For one, your claim portrays Gods giving of the Holy Spirit, prophesied as the giving of a new heart and new spirit, as forced love- that’s absurd. Romans 5:5 because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5, LSB) the gift of God, and you mock it
@CatholicDrip___ How would you know? Your own RC faith is so disconnected from the biblical apostlic faith, it’s a sad joke. You have no basis for understanding whether Calvin was right or wrong, because your faith isn’t biblical.
Exegetical Safety Tip: Don’t get so distracted by the context that you forget to read the verse you’re trying to interpret.
⁹ The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
— 2 Peter 3:9 (ESV)

Calvinist here. This makes no sense, and it’s not biblical. Paul and Jesus were very clear- unless youre born from above, the message of the cross is foolishness(1Cor 1:18), and you won’t hear the words of God, unless you are of God (John 8). You do have a free will- it’s just not libertarian free will
So do you agree? Does what I said make sense to you, that creatures who cannot sin are still free? Creatures who cannot fail to deeply love God, ever, still have genuine love? I’ve heard many Christians say that love is meaningless if you cant voluntarily walk away. I always point out that love that walks away is fallen and imperfect, and is not at all a model of love to be admired, but instead to be shunned and pitied. Granted, it’s very human to think in those terms. Thanks Rachel
@writeontheedg3 Subject to change. A perfected, glorified creature in Christ would not be subject to change- as in, we won’t fall and sin and suffer penalty for sin. All of creation changed in the fall. (Romans) That all comes to an end in the New Earth
