As believers, with the pull of our past patterns of life, we often feel the weight of excess burden in following Yeshua. We can sometimes mix covenants, and believe we need to âkeep the commandmentsâ or follow some variation of holiness vows in our faith walk.
The law of Moses, or Sinai itself, has nothing to do with salvation under the New Covenant. It was life under the Old Covenant, and for a different time.
From Romans 2 we can see that Godâs laws were written on peopleâs hearts even during the Old Covenant (with Paul stating that the Gentiles displayed these concepts.. who were in that covenant known as the unbelieving), and with their consciences bearing witness to Godâs truth.
And, from 1 Tim. 8 we see that the lawâs purpose and intention is to expose the lawless, not to make one righteous: âlaw is for the lawlessâ. Believers in Christ Jesus have already been declared righteous and are therefore exempt from the law. We follow a different way, which is âby the Spiritâ who gives Grace by which weâre taught. Tit. 2:12
We live under that New Covenant and better way; that is the Grace (Spiritâs leading) that came by Jesus Christ.
From John 1 we can see that âthe law was given through Mosesâ, (which taught us up until the New Covenant as a schoolmaster) âbut Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.â
From Hebrews 1 we can see God has spoken âin these last daysâ by His Son, and in Hebrews 10, the New Covenant is described as the current covenant for the people of God (those who believe in Jesus Christ), and shows the law to be a âshadowâ of the good things to come..
This New Covenant is âby the Spiritâ of Christ (Spirit of Grace; Spirit of Truth) and is described in Hebrews 10:20 as a ânew and living wayâ brought through the once for all sacrifice of Yeshua the Messiah. (Jesus Christ)
âBy Grace you have been saved through faithâŚâ, and âby that faith the just shall live.â đ¤â¤ď¸
@RevReads289@CatholicDrip___ Leave it to the largest religious institution ever known to claim a persecuted status. đ¤Śââď¸ Anti-catholic⌠smh. Nvm, claiming credit for Godâs Word. Itâs a bit bizarre..
I believe Paul would have been appalled at the idea that all the adversity he faced was somehow His loving Fatherâs idea of theatre to please himself.
Calvinism makes a mockery of the Love of God that guides and comforts the faithful through everything life throws at people. đ¤Śââď¸
Because they do not believe⌠neither in God, nor in the One He sent. This is what scripture.. no, what Jesus Himself said. They are condemned already.. right there in John 3:17-18, both paths.
âNeither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under Heaven by which men must be saved.â
Your answers didnât include the above⌠so, I suspect it was driving at they made a wrong choice, which is true according to scripture.. theyâve thought to go it alone without their creator.
Philosophical ideas about the afterlife aside, the Gospel is simple: simple faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ (death, burial, and resurrection). Then one doesnât have to worry about being a man, woman, boy, or girl who is in hell in the afterlife, because Jesus is fully âable to save to the uttermost.âHe keeps His sheep. His Grace teaches us to deny âungodliness and live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.â
Can I ask: do Provisionists even believe their eternal life is eternal? Everyone Iâve met, seems to think eternal doesnât mean eternal.
No one knows about the afterlife, completely. We canât even get the story on this life straight. Itâs goofy.
âshall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?â
Just doing some preaching. đ
Did Abraham identify as a Jew?
He was the father of many nations.
God is the Heavenly Father of all men.
Iâm curious as to why you believe God is a respecter of persons. He loves.. you do understand love in the context that itâs given in 1 Cor.?⌠itâs given bc of the One who gives, and not because the recipient has done anything with which to claim that Love. They might only claim it based on the love itself, and nothing else.
We âarenât under the lawâanymore, âbut under Grace.â
âThe Apostles and those who studied directly at there feet are not the same concept?â
No. NOT. The testimony of the apostles is the Word of God; inspired testimony âcarried along by the Holy Spiritâ of God (scripture) and the other is the human tradition of an entity called Rome. (Institutional tradition) Theyâre not even close to the same. There are many traditions of many things. We should âkeepâ them all?
I argued for anyone questioning. But, now I take my leave.. again.đ Col. 2:8
There are 2 different Greek words translated âfleshâ in the Bible. One describes the mindset of âwalking by the flesh.â The other means âbody of flesh.â They shouldnât be confused. They are sarx and soma. Sarx is not us, but our old mindset. God doesnât despise our bodies, (which are the temple of God, today) was all I pointed him to. We shouldnât despise them either.
đľâđŤ right. The apostles and your âearly church fathersâ garb is not the same concept. Iâm done speaking further. The thread was a totally separate point, anyway. We all will answer to God for our beliefs, and we wonât get to say, âwell, I was just following those guysâ as if itâs some defense. Iâve overlooked your personal insults. I was speaking of practices and you were speaking personally. đ
Church Fathers? Tell me some more how faith like a child in the only Father there is, isnât good enough to discuss the Gospel.
Itâs all about the human condition with yâall.. the saints, my ignorance.. are you serious with this??
Iâve studied ancient history, modern history, and yes some history of the church, but I couldnât give a flying fig about some people the RCC has named âsaintâ. What creates a âsaintâ anyway?
This conversation is about all the RCC extra curricular activities for which they need scores upon scores of teachings of the whys and wherefores. Do any of you speak of the love of God? The Word of God who died for your sins? That before you knew anything about Christ Jesus, while you were a sinner He died for you? These questions are rhetorical. I donât wish to speak of any Church fathers.
By Sin in those moments, like everyone else today. Rom. 7:11; Js. 1:14-15
Itâs possible youâre trying to say he was deceived by the woman, mb? But, Sin operated through Eve, and no one usurps a personâs will without the cooperation of the person. God doesnât even usurp peopleâs wills, contrary to some teachings.
Eve was very specifically deceived by the father of lies, according to 1 Tim. But, 1 Tim. isnât really saying that Eve was less responsible bc of deception, nor is it saying that she was more responsible bc she was an idiot. They both were completely responsible, but both tried to give themselves an out.
Adam was responsible for eating though he blamed Eve and God by proxy, and Eve was responsible, though she blamed the devil.
Jesus died for both. âď¸

Itâs just a difference of how they were brought up, I believe. Have you asked any of these people to shoot you a text, or call in case you were in the middle of something? Sometimes we refrain from asking something like that because we donât want to stir conflict.
But, resolved conflict is better than being quietly troubled.
This post is just trying to help. If anyone thinks Iâm saying something else, please just file the message to trash in your brain and move on.. đŤ
It creates doubt, self-condemnation, and rejection. It actually creates the self-effort mindsets. And, I believe wholeheartedly that this is why every person struggles with that self-effort brain.. bc we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory. But, I thank God my righteousness lies in Jesus Christ and Godâs promises to Him. âď¸â¤ď¸
Just sitting here wondering what to do with my faith that seems so strained for the umpteenth time..
Once again, the Holy Spirit spoke into my being that itâs not us thatâs carrying the weight of our salvation. God put all the weight of His oath on the very literal, and also spiritually speaking, back of Yeshua.
Itâs Godâs promises toward Him (and us, in Him) that are âmuch betterâ promises than those of the Old Covenant toward Israel of those days, and we have a âmuch better mediatorâ than Moses.
Iâve debated with people on x about this covenant, and what it entails, bc I sometimes feel we donât realize what we do by minimizing that Christâs work was and is the completion of the law and prophets, and was the bringing in of âa new thingâ.
Gentiles werenât included in any promises of God prior to Christâs finished work, but theyâve now âbeen brought near.â
During the Old, the promises hinged on behavior (and currently, unbelieving people find themselves subject to the law written on their consciences). In Christ, the new commands (to âbelieveâ and âloveâ) are written on our hearts.. into our very being. (this means sin doesnât suit us) Theyâre different commandments and are âworkedâ out by the Spirit of Christ within us. His Love is âpoured out in our hearts.â
Christâs resurrection and then ascension, opened the door for the Holy Spirit to draw all men, and testify of Christ. Pentecost was the point when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh, and its stated this way. Jesusâ death, burial and resurrection was the signing of the New Covenant, with believing individuals being sealed by the Spirit âunto the day of redemptionâ at the moment of new birth.
These were those âborn not of flesh and blood, nor of the will of man, but of Godâ. At no time do these ânew creationsâ ever revert back to âold creatures.â Nor can a child âborn of Godâ, just all of a sudden, get unborn (or born of Adam once again.) To say otherwise, would be besmirching Godâs oath to His Son.
âA Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.â
Thatâs not to say we may always have this confidence..
We âshouldâ always have it, however; or we would just end up living in the same pattern as OT Israel. (Because of Jesusâ work, this could never happen again, bc He has the power âto save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him.â
Israelâs story is written for our benefit, and our admonition, so we might live truly blameless. They were unbelieving, which is why The New Covenant was enacted in the first place, according to Hebrews. Praise God it was!! đâ¤ď¸
