I think that’s partly due to it being a cultural norm. In the white community, teens take their partners home in high school and families are guiding those relationships. Black teens are taught dating is a crime and are then expected to pull a spouse and kids out a hat 🫩

I wouldn't know how to process waking up one day, turning on the radio, and hearing one of the hottest songs in the world celebrate boosting, then learning the song is by the daughter of the woman who killed my innocent family member in the process of fleeing the scene after boosting …That kind of pain would be impossible to separate from the music.
