Odysseus literally broke into Polyphemus’s home, ate his food, demanded gifts, and then acted shocked when a giant monster defended his territory. By framing the blinding with raw, visceral agony rather than triumphant heroism, Nolan forces you to see Odysseus not as a traditional hero, but as an arrogant trespasser whose hubris brings immediate curse and ruin upon his whole crew.
