It all started as a concept and dream but we are able to give life to this magnificent edifice and make dream come reality. Thanks to the architect and all the construction team member both skilled and unskilled. Tedious and challenging but we are able to pull through. #Engineer
@Champagnediet1 “The audacity to request the outcome of something you didn’t contribute to needs to be studied.” This was what she claimed in the post got her angry sha.
One evening in 2024, I was scrolling through twitter and getting ready to close from work when I came across a post by Sahil Bloom that really hit me like nothing before.
In a talk with a friend, Sahil mentioned that he lived far from his parents. His friend asked, "How old are they? How often do you see them?"
"Mid-60s. I see them once a year" Sahil said.
“So you’d see them 15x in your lifetime”.
He was so moved that he quit his job, sold his house and moved closer to his parents.
That post hit me so deeply like nothing I had read on Twitter.
Because that was my exact situation.
I was working partly in Lagos. My dad was old, sickly and was living in Kano - far away from me.
He had been sick and frail for about two years.
I immediately called one of my brothers to speak with our father.
His voice was kind of weak and trembling.
Once I heard that, I booked a flight to Kano for the next day.
When he saw me at the door, his whole face changed. He was shocked to see me- everybody in the house was.
He smiled. And in the faintest whisper said:
“Aminu, kai ne?” “Aminu, is that you?”
I turned my face away so he wouldn’t see my teary eyes.
I stayed in Kano for next two days.
That was my last physical encounter with him.
It is that memory that I now hold dear because….
A few weeks later, on the afternoon of October 1, 2024, my phone made a small buzz.
It was a text from one of my brothers.
“Allah yayi wa kawu rasuwa.”
“Our father has passed away.”
And just like that, it was over.
No more calls.
No more visits.
On 1/10/2026, it would be 2 years since he passed away. May Allah forgive him and us too.
Most times, we think that we have “The time”.
Time to call. The Time to visit.
The reality is we don’t.
The time with our loved ones and our time on earth is so limited.
In fact, fragile.
And it expires without warning.
So if someone comes to your mind today - your dad, your mum, your friend - call them.
Go see them.
Don’t wait.
You may never get another chance.
Make sure you don’t die without traveling and seeing new places.
Enter bus and go to Akure.
Go to Ekiti and visit Idanre.
Traveling is not just about going abroad.
Yesterday I was in Awka and Onitsha enjoying bitter leaf soup.
Next month I will be there again to eat Okpa.
Don’t die in Iyana Ipaja.
Crazy thing I saw today:
Professor of Infrastructure David Umahi measuring the roadside with his legs. I still wonder why this country is not a Netflix series!
Pls don’t spend all your last penny on travel. Sometimes I’ve totally forgotten about an experience until I see it on my camera roll. I just saw a video now about an experience that I had completely forgotten about. I know social media has been quite heavy about pro travel content but pls only do it within your means. It’s not a life or death activity. If you can afford it then by all means enjoy it. Otherwise, wait it out.
The fact that this became an issue in the first place leaves a very bad taste. Even with my own 2k farm, I’m already considering giving the farm manager some stake in the business.
It is well with us
Handing out equity gifts to 2 million widows is a nice gesture, but it won’t shift economic perception. The real PR for the refinery would be to grant its workers a real stake through an employee equity scheme
The surgeon didn't operate from Mowe Ogun State, but FROM REDEEMER'S HEALTH VILLAGE, REDEMPTION CITY OF GOD, OGUN STATE, a facility of the @RCCGworldwide.
Give the right credit because if it was something negative, your headline will be screaming RCCG.
