Happy birthday to Sir Thomas Bodley!
Born in Exeter in 1545, Bodley was a Diplomat and Scholar. He married a rich widow (whose husband had made his fortune trading in pilchards) and, in his retirement, founded the Bodleian Library.

We made these elementary school-style Valentine’s from images of plants in our Living Collection. Send them to your friends and loved ones, or print them out and leave them on their doorstep with a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day! https://t.co/MQRQbDlpKF
Happy birthday to composer George Frideric Handel (1685-1759)!🎉
Here's a page from Handel’s conducting score of ‘Messiah’ in the composer’s hand.
It was used at the work’s première in Dublin in 1742 and all subsequent performances during his lifetime.

Lots happening over the weekend, so we didn't want to make a big fuss - but we turned 418 years old yesterday.
Thank you to everyone for your kind birthday wishes! We still feel sprightly as ever, and hungry to learn.
Please help yourselves to a slice. 🕯️
