#PDRA position in my group @EEB_Sheffield on the #evolution and #genomics of sexual signals in stalk-eyes flies!
Exciting questions and methods, awesome study system, and a friendly group and department.
Just out @NatureEcoEvo - @CorralLopezA 's tour de force! Functional convergence of genomic and transcriptomic genetic architecture underlying sociability. Heritability, GWAS and neuro-transcriptomics of collective behaviour https://t.co/gH25EhdNnv w Niclas Kolm & many others.
Deep learning reveals the role of copy number variation
in the genetic architecture of a highly polymorphic
sexual trait. @_Axeman_ did it all - selection experiment, pedigrees, neural nets, GWAS - for the architecture of color and pattern in guppies https://t.co/S21jS9LhIx
For those headed to #evolution2023, you can catch up on what we've been doing! - @Square_Hare's talk about the Signature of Early Y Chromosome Divergence on the Guppy Sex Chromosome is on Saturday at 11:15 in Pecos 230... 1/5
Sex-biased genes are thought to be key to the evolution of sexual dimorphism, but what if they are a consequence of it?

What is the cause of sex-biased gene expression? @IDarolti used single cell RNASeq to determine the role of regulatory versus developmental differences in sex-biased genes and their evolution rates. Now out at @Evolutionletters! https://t.co/cCuBEzLKSm
Sex-biased genes are often assumed to result from regulatory change. Using scRNA-seq we show that developmental sex differences in cellular composition can also generate patterns of sex-biased expression and influence estimates of coding sequence evolution.

I'm so pleased to share the latest work from @Y_Lin_Evo! She found extensive variation in germline de novo mutation rate in guppies, with interesting implications about the genetic basis of rapid adaptation. https://t.co/koT7J7G33F with @IDarolti@_Axeman_ and Jake Morris!
Sex-biased genes are often assumed to be the cause of sexual dimorphism, but what if they are just a result of it? The latest by @IDarolti - Sex-biased gene expression at single cell resolution: Causes and consequences of sexual dimorphism https://t.co/79zgyDUDUj
Excited to share this preprint of my latest work with @judithmank on sex-biased gene expression at single-cell resolution. Sex differences in cell type abundance can bias inferences of differential gene expression and patterns of selection! https://t.co/WmFY3q9izu
