Introducing the Maxar Open Data Plugin for QGIS 🚀
The Maxar Open Data Program, now called the Vantor Open Data Program, provides free high-resolution satellite imagery to support global disaster response and recovery. To date, it has released around 150,000 images totaling ~14 TB, all freely accessible through the AWS Open Data Program.
Despite its tremendous value, searching, visualizing, and downloading this data has often been challenging.
That is exactly what this new QGIS plugin is designed to solve. With the Maxar Open Data plugin, you can search, filter, preview, and download imagery directly inside QGIS, with no programming required. It is built for analysts, researchers, and practitioners who want fast, seamless access to high-resolution satellite data within their existing GIS workflows.

🚀 Installing the GeoAI QGIS Plugin—Easiest Method
After releasing the GeoAI QGIS plugin, I was excited to see so many users eager to try it out. However, some ran into challenges installing the plugin with conda/pip due to complex PyTorch + CUDA dependencies, especially on Windows.
To make things simpler, I created a step-by-step video tutorial that walks you through the easiest and most reliable installation method using Pixi. Hope it helps.

GIS experts are not your clients
Stop marketing yourself as a GIS expert - Start marketing solutions
Take 1
- Don't say; I’m an expert in QGIS, PostGIS, and geospatial analysis
- Say; I help logistics companies reduce transportation costs using geospatial optimization
Take 2
- Don't say; I create interactive web maps with Leaflet and Mapbox
- Say; I help real estate firms visualize land values and growth trends with interactive maps
Dos
- Engage in non-GIS spaces
- Build solutions, not just maps
- Get comfortable explaining GIS benefits without technical jargon
