This Eid feels quieter.
For the first time, mom isn’t rushing around upset that guests are coming and nothing feels ready yet. She isn’t standing in front of the mirror looking effortlessly elegant, making me check myself twice just so I looked worthy standing beside her.

She made Eid feel like Eid.
And without her, the lights, the clothes, the gathering, everything feels incomplete.
