This is how we value sports in India.

It’s been 1.5 years since I applied for my arms licence. My father was a renowned shooter and one of the founding members of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), Delhi. I cleared the required dope test, completed police verification, and spent around ₹1–2 lakh on fees and related expenses.

After all that, we’re now told that licences have been put on hold.

I’ve always wanted to take up shooting and continue my father’s legacy, but because of this delay me & my dad spent an entire year visiting the SSP office every Wednesday, waiting for my application to be cleared.

This is how sports shooters are treated. This is how we value sports in Punjab, India.
