Data from Swiggy and Zomato indicates around 8,000 restaurants failed to file returns despite ₹7,500 crore in estimated evasion.

Earlier surveys also revealed widespread underreporting. Authorities are planning targeted enforcement using data analytics to improve tax compliance.
