Sylus is always the first to wake when your baby cries. He’s used to minimal sporadic sleep and waking at all random hours of the day so for him, it’s not even a question of who wakes to do the feeding. Besides, Sylus enjoys the quiet of night and the way his little one gets so sleepy right after a bottle. You always find mini me fast asleep on Sylus’ chest with him fast asleep in the armchair.

In fact, you barely do much in the first few months post-baby. Sylus knows Onychinus will continue functioning and thriving even without his direct input and it’s not as though money will ever be an issue for him. He makes sure that every waking hour is dedicated to your recovery and rest - homemade meals, massages, warm baths, lots and lots of praise and comfort, and his usual doting affection that has you on cloud nine. You notice that in the months since you’ve had the baby, Sylus’ features have become noticeably softer. He smiles more, the furrowed crease between his brows isn’t so present anymore, and this light seems to follow him wherever he goes now; he seems happier.

The home is now filled with the sounds of Sylus’ silly babbling as he sits on the carpet with his mini me, watching as chubby baby hands reach for various toys in Sylus’ grasp. He encourages the little one with affectionate words and coos of encouragement until finally, stubby legs push up off the ground and Sylus is stunned into silence. You watch from where you’re seated on the comfy lounge, eyes welling up as the very first steps are taken. When you finally look at Sylus, he has tears streaming down his face as his mini me clumsily walks towards him. When the little one finally tumbles right into Sylus’ outstretched arms, he holds her with so much reverence and love that he can only laugh with pure, unadulterated joy.

A part of Sylus heals, mending over a deep wound from long ago. He was happy and content with you returning to his life but with this little one? He’s not sure how much more his heart can take before it bursts with the love he has to give his little family.
