The funniest part of this to me is, I would have assumed that ANY province to hit maybe 30-35% YES if they were to randomly do this vote, just by general online sentiment of the federal government, and yet the province who talks about it constantly couldn’t even break 25% 😂 😂
At least 1 in 4 Albertans just voted against staying in Canada. It is a huge win for Alberta. Why? Because this means that Ottawa has a gun to its head. If every Leave voter convinces one person to change their mind, Alberta could leave if it is ever deemed to need another vote.
@fgraffagnino No it’s not, but it’s probably some company requirement group thing. Usually People pay into it voluntarily to lower their taxable income and banks will invest it for you. When you take it back out you pay the tax on it then, usually when you’re retired and in a lower bracket.
You put $458 into your RRSP, why are you including it in your deductions? The Net including that is $3277. On top of that your RRSP contributions are likely giving you a tax return of around $5000. Your RRSP is still your money.
To show everyone how much workers get taxed in Canada for our "free" stuff.
Gross earnings: $4800
Net earnings: $2819
Thats a big reason I left Canada. After expenses, there was nothing left at the end of the month. This was 2020 and I had a high paying job.

If these numbers are real. A few things stand out:
1) Winnipeg is more expensive???
2) it’s ONLY an extra $500/mo to live in Montreal???
3) the extra $1000/mo to NOT live in Edmonton is worth it.
But also, 1250 * 2 ≠ 2250
If Toronto rent is bleeding you dry, look what 1-bedrooms actually cost across Canada right now:
• Toronto: $2,250
• Ottawa: $1,850
• Montréal: $1,750
• Calgary: $1,650
• Winnipeg: $1,350
• Edmonton: $1,250
You can literally rent two full apartments in Edmonton for the price of one box in Toronto. 💀
@realwillreil@RueNahcMohr Yep, You’re correct. There is also a silly loophole with robotics too, if a robot ships with zero firmware, and you write and program the robot here it can count as 51% and suddenly the robot is “made in Canada”
I made a microprocessor and want to tell you all about it!
Video covers at a high level HDL and programming, synthesis/layout and bringup
It was a lot of work, but really fun! 10/10, would recommend everyone tape out some custom silicon 😊

This is the literal definition of being governed. They didn’t want their shed like this, but chose to spent time and money to follow the written rule and law of the government. 🤷♂️
Someone complained to the city that this guy's shed had a larger footprint than what is allowed....so he fixed it.
The neighbour was heard saying; "That's not what I had in mind".

@KennyLauderdal3 Recently discovered a Price is Right channel on Plex that plays 70-80s episode and noticed a few episodes have had AI upscaling applied. Not every one but I’m guessing ones that had too much noise/damage from the original recording.
CCA was bullshit in the first place. You’re a small business, and you’re strapped for cash but you need that computer/equipment/tool, that tax write off is going to keep you going come tax season. A lot of things were accelerated CCA already but the rules are so damn convoluted.
Canada announces 100% depreciation for more assets.
For context, if you buy $100 of equipment for your business, you generally cannot deduct the whole $100 right away. You write it off slowly:
Year 1: $30
Year 2: $14 (20% of the $70 left over)
Year 3: $11 ((20% of the $56 left over)
And so on, for years.
You’ve spent the money today, but the tax savings come over many years.
Canada is now announcing that you can now write off the full 100% in year 1 on many assets including equipment, furniture, software, computers, patents, pipelines, rail tracks, roads, etc.
A few things to keep in mind:
1) This is important because the U.S. already lets businesses do this. So it makes us more competitive.
2) One thing to watch out for is implementation. This is an announcement but not yet law. It’s possible CRA may disallow this until it actually becomes law.
