HAPPY PALM SUNDAY FROM IRAQ!🇮🇶 ✝️🌿
'Oshana Breekha!'
You are witnessing the earliest Christians observing their centuries-old Palm Sunday tradition!
Every year, the last Aramaic speakers walk the streets of their ancient villages waving palm and olive branches.
They fill the air with ancient Syriac-Aramaic hymns, songs, and prayers throughout the entire town to commemorate Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem.
The villagers are wearing traditional Mesopotamian attire. It is known that Christians from the Nineveh Plains are the direct descendants of the ancient Mesopotamians and still speak their own dialect of Akkadian-infused Aramaic, known as Sureth.
Save Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs!
