Day 6 of posting productivity tips until I hit $100k in bounty spend or graduate from EcomUni
All it takes is 30 days to completely change your work ethic.
Struggling with discipline?
Do a dopamine detox.
30 days.
No phone, max 2 hours laptop usage, all unnecessary apps and websites removed.
From what I heard from @zakaria_airak , this is the one of the best ways to boost discipline, and reset your dopamine levels.
Our brains are all fried from modern life's constant stimulation, and high stress moments.
Maybe it's time we take a short break.
Week 1: The hardest. You will feel VERY uncomfortable.
Ways to cope:
Exercise
Talking with friends
Staying out of the house
Seeing the beautiful stuff in life
Reading
Week 2:
Basically week 1 but on steroids.
This is when most people quit.
Don't try to do anything super intense during this time period, treat yourself like a sick person and rest whenever possible.
Week 3:
Getting better but still occasional jitters.
Week 4:
Jitters getting less violent.
Try it out for a month.
(I might do it when November starts.)
If you truly care about making it in Ecom, STOP USING that damn phone.
Ads Manager? Laptop handles it.
X? Laptop handles it.
Calls? Not the end of the world.
You don't need another device hoarding your attention.
Modern life already has many distractions trying to deviate you from your goal. Too many.
Removing your phone from your life (or at least severely limiting screen time) is one of the most simple wins you can execute.
Day 5 of giving productivity tips until I hit $100k in bounty ad spend or graduate EcomUniversity.
Interleaving.
What the hell is that?
It's the method I use to learn a set of skills in ecom as fast as possible.
Interleaving is a method where instead of focusing on improving / studying one key topic,
Like:
-Only video editing for the whole day
-Only CS
-Only AI ads
Instead, Interleaving studying makes you periodically switch topics.
Like:
-Studying video editing for 30 minutes, then switching to CS
-Studying CS for 30 minutes, then switching to AI ads
Now you might be thinking, isn't focusing on ONE area the best way to master a topic?
And you'd be right, except for one thing:
The human brain is highly efficient.
Say you're in school.
You have 3 tests on the same day, each a different topic.
Calculus.
History.
Physics.
You decide to do Calculus on one day, History on the 2nd, and Physics on the last day before the test.
First comes the Calculus test.
You get to question 4, thinking you're going to be ok, and then it hits you:
You forgot 75% of what you've studied.
Next comes History.
50% of what you've studied.
And lastly, Physics.
Since you've studied Physics yesterday compared to Calc and History being further back, you retain the most memory.
What's the issue?
You haven't exercised the act of recalling memory.
Because the thing is, in the beginning of every topic or hobby you master,
Your foundations are shaky.
You have to work harder to recall the info you learn.
But like most things in life, the only way you get better at something, is by putting in the reps.
Interleaving works because
You're *recalling information* much more often than single topic studying.
Because each time you do the retrieval in your mind,
you're strenghening the neural pathways in your brain
that are responsible for remembering that.
You HAVE to slightly forget something in order to master it.
Think about it.
Remember that time when you've had to memorize some sort of text or poem and say it out loud?
You don't memorize it by recalling only once and calling it a day.
You try to recall it multiple, multiple times, and only then do you memorize it.
That's what Interleaving is:
Forcing your brain to recall more, therefore strengthening your memory of the topics.
Here's the basic analogy when studying for those 3 topics:
Traditional single topic studying (WRONG):
Day 1:
Calculus
Day 2:
History
Day 3:
Physics
Test Day:
Calculus (x1 recall)
History (x1 recall)
Physics (x1 recall)
Interleaving:
Day 1:
Calculus for 30 mins
History for 30 mins
Physics for 30 mins
Calculus for 30 mins (x1 recall)
History for 30 mins (x1 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x1 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x2 recall)
History for 30 mins (x2 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x2 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x3 recall)
History for 30 mins (x3 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x3 recall)
Day 2:
Calculus for 30 mins (x4 recall)
History for 30 mins (x4 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x4 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x5 recall)
History for 30 mins (x5 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x5 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x6 recall)
History for 30 mins (x6 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x6 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x7 recall)
History for 30 mins (x7 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x7 recall)
Day 3:
History for 30 mins (x8 recall)l)
History for 30 mins (x4 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x8 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x9 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x9 recall))
Physics for 30 mins (x5 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x10 recall)
History for 30 mins (x10 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x10 recall)
Calculus for 30 mins (x11 recall)
History for 30 mins (x11 recall)
Physics for 30 mins (x11 recall)
Test Day:
Calculus (x12)
History (x12)
Physics (x12)
See how many more reps of recalling you put in when
doing interleaving rather than single topic studying?
12 times of recalling for each topic compared to only 1 time.
That's why it works, and why I've been able to understand ecom topics so quickly.
Simply put:
More recall reps = Better foundation.
Today, try it for yourself.
For those of you guys in EcomUni, instead of trenching out 1 module in its entirety,
Watch a video in Introduction.
Then Fundamentals.
Then Video Editing.
Then Creative Strategy.
And repeat this process.
You'll be surprised how much you learn.
Stay tuned for Day 6 (I'll be resting my hands from typing so it'll be light advice)
Day 4 of giving productivity tips until I hit $100k in bounty ad spend or graduate EcomUniversity.
Everything in your life matters.
Literally everything.
We may not think EVERYTHING matters, but when it comes to your ambitions (if you have any),
EVERYTHING moves you either:
1. Towards your goals
Or
2. Away from your goals
None of that "neither toward nor away " bullshit.
The clothes you wear
The food you eat,
The media you consume
The people you hang out with
The exercise you do
The activities you participate in an off day
The stuff you do on a bad day
The apps on your phone
The clutter in a small part of your room
Every single thing you do pushes the needle AWAY, or TOWARDS what you want.
So what do you take away from this?
If you were truly serious about your goals, you would've done everything in your power to achieve them.
You would've stopped hanging out with people who make you deviate away from your ambitions, cut out bad habits like porn, phone addiction, procrastination, etc. etc.
Tonight's action item for me and for all of you guys:
Have a blank piece of paper.
Starting tommorrow, you're going to write down everything you've done.
Tommorrow night, come back to this paper and this post, and see if you have things that are pushing you away from your goals, or towards your goals.
Towards > Away = you're in good shape.
And the opposite?
You have much work to do.
Stay tuned for day 5
(I'll be going over the most effective way of learning any topic.)
99% of the people you'll meet in life have no ambitions, no life goals, lack discipline, and don't want to be serious about their lives.
The people who'll be your real day 1's are the people you meet on discord, sharing the same grueling path as you, trenching it out together.
