The 2024/2025 Data Science Fellowship Program, DSFP 4.0, is officially coming to a close.
In the last seven months, our fellows have been breaking boundaries, sharpening their skills, and using data to tackle social problems. All 40 Fellows have worked very hard to prove that data science is about creating meaningful impact and driving change.

With this cohort, we’ve now trained a total of 150 Data Science fellows, a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. The future looks bright for the DSFP 4.0 fellows, and we can’t wait to see the incredible things they’ll accomplish in the years to come.

Last week's guest lecture was our 12th in the series since the fellowship's inception in 2020.
This reaffirms the program's commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical in-class knowledge and real-world application in the field. The DSFP Guest Lecture Series offers fellows the opportunity to learn directly from seasoned experts across various industries. Learning from experienced professionals, policymakers, and thought leaders in the data science industry helps our fellows gain insights into industry trends, build networks, and refine their problem-solving approaches—preparing them to become the thought leaders of tomorrow.

The recent DSFP 4.0 guest lecture on "Transforming Health Data Communication" with Dr. Hajara Ni'ima Kera emphasized the importance of presenting health data in a way that drives meaningful action. Fellows were encouraged to simplify their messaging through executive summaries, policy briefs, and visual tools like bar charts, making it easier for policymakers to understand and act on the insights.
The session also addressed potential challenges in communicating data effectively and provided strategies to overcome them. Fellows learned the value of connecting health data to larger narratives and ensuring their communication focuses on impact and relevance.

After two months of the DSFP 4.0 journey, our fellows are perfecting their MS Excel skills and mastering ways to use them to impact citizens' lives.

We just concluded an intense Advanced Excel module with our expert instructors, and it was thrilling! With every formula, chart, and analysis, they get one step closer to turning data into action for communities.
