I shared one recently, where a woman had chemo for YEARS for a cancer SHE DIDNT EVEN HAVE.

You’re a pharmacist supposedly so perhaps you’ll understand some pharmaceutical concepts (although I don’t even know anymore what you would or not understand)

Imagine 100,000 patients are prescribed a new drug. One patient develops a serious, unexpected adverse reaction and their doctor reports it. You wouldn’t say, “Only 1 in 100,000 patients reported this, so it’s hearsay.” You’d record the case, investigate it, look for similar cases and see whether a safety signal emerges.

That’s essentially the point of pharmacovigilance: an individual report isn’t proof of causation, but neither is it hearsay simply because it represents a small proportion of the population. The small number tells you something about the strength and generalisability of the evidence - not that the patient’s experience can be dismissed.

And here you are suggesting 1000s of doctors who actually took the time out to respond should be ignored and also the thousands that are probably too scared to report things (as we have seen people get GMC’d even when they are right) etc

I mean at a macro level - yes there are confounding factors of estates etc - but adjusting for all of that - people’s outcomes are far worse, wait lists are up by 300%, etc

I had quite a few doctors reach out to me during this whole Pa thing and they had asked to do studies in AnE of cases and they were denied that.

And oh yes I can be a doctor too … sort of … (the grandiosity of that and the banding that comes with it is far too difficult for them to reason beyond especially when the leaders in the system are telling you you are doing great work) - but the fact they can’t differentiate between leaders doing things for public good or not is worrying
