Some of the University of Nairobi’s facilities are as old as the institution itself. Student hostels have housed generations of learners, while the Mahatma Gandhi Wing has long served as a campus landmark. The University is now carrying out major repairs and renovations across several of these facilities, including parts of Gandhi Wing damaged by a fire in January 2025.
The Chair of Council, Prof. Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ayub Gitau, Deputy Vice-Chancellors Prof. Josiah Aduda and Prof. Leonida Kerubo, and heads of various sections inspected the ongoing works at Hall 8, the International Students Hostel, SWA headquarters and Mahatma Gandhi Wing which houses Arziki Restaurant, the VC's Parlour and the Senior Common Room.
The renovations will restore these spaces and keep them serving the University community, ensuring that buildings which have stood for decades remain useful to the future generations of students and staff. #WeareUoN

Leadership is not only about having answers.
It is about knowing when to challenge an assumption, make space for another perspective and look at a problem differently.
The right question can change the direction of a conversation, a decision or even an organisation.
