Happy Birthday today to Baywatch star actress Pamela Anderson! As Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona for 24 years, I had Pamela assist me in replacing all the meat in the county jails with all-vegetarian diets. The 8,000 inmates, including at Tent City, hated the new menu. I always responded, “Then don’t go to jail!”

However, I did make one exception by allowing jail inmates who served in the military to be fed meat on the Fourth of July. Thousands of inmates complained about the tough conditions in Tent City jail, but I always reminded them that our brave servicemen and women fight for our country while living in tents.

I hope everybody enjoys their Fourth of July weekend! Be safe and never forget our military, law enforcement, and especially our Commander in Chief, President Trump, for fighting for us!

On 4th of July, I'm reminded how fortunate we are to live in the greatest country on Earth.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday this week, I'm especially grateful to serve a President who believes that people who work hard every day deserve to keep more of what they earn. No tax on tips. No tax on overtime. No tax on Social Security. Historic relief through the Working Families Tax Cuts.

That's not just good policy. It's a belief in the American worker and the American Dream.

It's about more than bringing aid.

Our disaster response teams bring a listening ear and the news of the God who loves us so much that He came in human form, endured death, and personally felt the gut-wrenching pain of grief.

Jesus doesn't promise to shield us from heartbreak, but He is with us in our suffering.

He can empathize and comfort us in moments like this and promises an eternal life where there are no more tears.

"Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4
