Such a strange habit of humans to apply reason to everything. What Bradley just explained here can be seen in Argentina, Dublin, Manchester, Sevilla, Paris. Anywhere. The council estate in Ireland I gre up in was exactly how he described, but it doesn’t explain why Argentina have a different way of playing, especially in midfield where they create angles differently to how we do it in Europe

@THEZONEEEEEE Gerrard was a great player, he could pass, score goals and run. But his most successful spells came as either a right sided player or number 10, off Torres. He wasn’t the classic, central midfielder, neither was Lampard.

@RPMComo I agree what Tuchel is said is true, that’s obvious as it was the same in all other recent loses. However, as Fergie used to protect his players, I also think the players may feel like they have been hung out to dry here. Regardless of true or not, I doubt the players agree

@Saggitta2 @JamesMelville I don’t disagree, think his subs were too far the other way when they did come, but o don’t agree with the narrative which is that as soon as England scored, Tuchel made defensive changes, the fact is, his first change came nearly 20 minutes later

Declan Rice is and always has been a centre half. Those powerful runs with the ball where he covers ground, we’ve seen Maguire, Vidic, Terry, Ramos all make these runs. He’s played midfield a long time so he’s now very capable with the players around him.

But he’s no Vieira, Keane, Effenberg, Rodri or any of the great midfielders who could dictate the pace of the game, who could all speed it up and get their team on the front foot, or slow it down and kill the game.

Agree with everything except for the part about Spence not being bothered to close down Messi. He showed Messi onto his right foot which is what you would have told him to do, and in that position you can’t get too close either because you have to assume Messi will at some point get back to his left. I don’t really blame Spencer for that

I think too much blame on Tuchel, his first sub came nearly 20mins after they went 1-0 up, then the other subs (Burn and O'Reilly) came nearly thirty minutes after the goal. Possibly the wrong subs but the picture being painted is that Tuchel made three defensive subs straight after scoring which isnt true, the England players were sitting back themselves

Aside from Michael Cox I haven’t seen one ‘journalist’ speak about what actually happened last night. It’s all been emotion driving click bait. #worldcup #england #argentina

Michael Cox and Andros Townsend the only two people who actually talk any sense on last night.

The subs happened nearly 20 minutes after England went 1-0 up.

And love that Cox points out that the obvious change was Kane or Bellingham, but of course, can understand why that didn’t happen…

Same old England. On first viewing I thought Tuchel’s subs were disastrous. On second viewing, the retreat happened beforehand, a consequence of Argentina pushing on & England being exhausted. The three defensive subs did make sense. Analysis here…⬇️
