Punjab’s courts reopened after a 30-day summer recess, with 27 family courts in Rawalpindi receiving a record 214 new cases on the first day.

The cases included divorce, khula, dowry and dower disputes, with some Christian women also seeking divorce. Eighteen men approached courts seeking orders for their wives to return home following marital disagreements.

According to case details, many women said they met their husbands through TikTok and other social media platforms before marrying, with several marriages ending within three to six months. Civil, magistrate and special courts also resumed proceedings, including the production of accused persons from Adiala Jail.
