"I like reminding people that despair in Christian theology is called the gravest of sins. And the reason why is because despair, properly understood, originally understood, was the idea that you were so irredeemable, that you were beyond salvation, that you were so sinful and you had transgressed so much that you shouldn't even bother asking for God's forgiveness because you were beyond it."
@JonahDispatch's live Remnant out now!
@berkokid Going in to last night Andersen had 11.5 goals saved above expected and a 0.810 goals saved above expected/60
But last night certainly hurt his case
@berkokid If Carolina wins, he’s behind Hall, Stankoven, and Freddy Andersen (again, assuming they win you have to assume Andersen plays better than last night).
I’m not saying he’s been bad. But he’s not winning the Conn Smythe.
A huge thanks to @JonahDispatch, @whignewtons, and @thedispatch for partnering with us at @AFempowers last week to host a recording of The Remnant podcast, live from the Watergate Hotel!
That episode is out today, and you can listen at the link that follows.
Hey Twitter friends:

My daughter Harper's high school choir is going to Italy in a few weeks. They'll be sharing music in some amazing places, like the St. Peters at the Vatican, Assisi, the Basilica of St. Francis, Siena, Florence, the village of Palestrina, and more.
She's trying to raise some extra money to help cover the cost of this pilgrimage and for some souvenirs while she's there. If you feel so inclined, any help is greatly appreciated!
For your enjoyment, here's a clip of her Women's Chorale performing recently:
As expected, I had great fun recording this live Remnant with @whignewtons. We did a little punditry, a lot of life advice for the youngs. https://t.co/vdvOQvyLXn
#WhatChipSaid. But also, if we’re talking about Carolina the first operative question is, “do you think the Rangers should adopt their specific system?” Maybe they should. If the answer is no, like I imagine it is for most people, then I think that colors the rest of this. Plenty of examples of them getting more out of some players, particularly defensemen, with this floor-raising system they play. Brady Skjei and Brett Pesce are just two examples of defensemen who looked lesser with other organizations than they did with Carolina.
I want the Rangers to get better at developing defensemen. For sure. But using Carolina as a measuring stick, to me, skews this analysis in ways other teams don’t.
@Chris_Roche Player demands for money in new contracts will also go up as the cap goes up. There are multiple factors at play here. The fundamental dynamics aren't really going to change.
The fact that the cap is rising doesn’t mean teams won’t still value cap space, especially when Montreal is likely to try to improve itself after this playoff run
@BlueshirtBanter This was important in past years but with the cap increasing so much and teams actually trying to get to the floor the return on such contracts won’t be much.
