Some upper limb casting teaching for our C25 medical student cohort today! Experiencing what the pt does is impt learning! @qubscrubs@QUBelfast@RCollEM
UU medical students experiencing what the patient does when we apply a short arm or metacarpal plaster cast in #antrimED. (And how noisy it is to remove!) @UlsterUniMed@markataylor16@RCollEM
Yesterday smashed our #antrimED highest attendance record - 379 in 24 hours. '22 daily av was 258. Along with 50+ trolley waits all day. Staff exhausted but still providing great care! @RCollEM@EmergNursesNI@EMedSligo@millarwilson
@jillstaffy We have had several patients wait in ED longer than 8! Days for an inpatient bed. How can you explain to a family why 8x~75 (daily admission number) other admissions I e. 600ish patients have been placed ahead of them during this time? @EmergNursesNI
@andrew_neilly@drdavyg Andy - you are the one and only 'Plaster Master' so don't be worrying about that. There are also loads of new staff who have never seen the awesomeness of Prelude slabs and think TPS refers to tyre pressure sensors! @saraelaine1
Some of our QUB 3yrs enjoying their practical procedures SSC in #antrimED. Looking forward to hosting @ulsterunimed students for the first time later this year! @qubscrubs@drdavyg
@RCEM_VP@mattdiscombe@RCollEM@RCEMpresident in Northern Ireland the clock starts when the patient is registered in ED - 4hour performance recently has ranged from 20-60% but usually in the 40% bracket in our Department
@PourquoiJD The lesser risk of cohorting in a space AFTER seen and treated in ED (Ward) versus accepting and facilitating cohorting patients before seen and treated building in more delays/ crowding /harm. Decongest EDs and offload ambulances to right place first time without delays π€
