Congratulations to @DocGooden16 on his well deserved number retirement. An all time great Met finally has his day. Thanks to @StevenACohen2 for continuing honor Mets history.
Not voting for Wright, Reyes, or Bartolo while voting for Jones demonstrates my lack of homerism. If Carlos Beltran doesn't get in it's a travesty. Relievers can't be measured by WAR, but Billy Wagner was a great player and that's what the Hall of Fame is for.
Abreu, Buehrle, Helton, Hunter, Pettitte, K-Rod, and Rollins are hall of very good. Bautista, Phillips, Reyes, Shields, and Utley (🖕) are all one and done. Wright, Colon, and Mauer may get some love.
The Mets have looked terrible for most of this season. Some aspects of the roster simply aren't fixable during the season. If Scherzer and Verlander can't average 6IP per start with a 3.50 ERA, the Mets are sunk. Same idea for Lindor, Marte, McNeil; they have to hit for power.
Games this season they were losing after three innings:
32 NYM 😮
31
30 COL OAK
29 BOS
28 KC PHI TOR
27 CIN PIT
26 MIL SD WSH
25 CHC CWS MIA

23 BAL MIN NYY STL
22 DET LAA
21 CLE

The Mets haven't produced an impact pitcher in too many years. The front office knows this; there is no magic solution to filling the high minors with pitching prospects and they just have to wait. The BVW era continues to hurt this team.
