අන්තර්ජාලය අපේ - Internet is Ours: ඩිජිටල් හිමිකම්, අන්තර්ජාල නිදහස සම්බන්ධයෙන් පොදු සංවාදය. A public forum, discussion on protecting our Digital rights, Internet freedom in Sri Lanka. #lka#SriLanka#digitalrights https://t.co/4FU9KdSu6p
@yudhanjaya@facebook Highest ranking Facebook officials have had multiple closed meetings with the government and politicians (inc UNP and @PresRajapaksa ) over the last year or so as @colombotelegrap has reported. Facebook is a clearly collaborating on state censorship at this point.
Urgent: #SriLanka has blocked social media and messaging apps again for a third time in one month; real-time network data show Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Viber currently unavailable with main ISPs; incident ongoing #LKA#KeepItOn 📉

#SriLanka President @MaithripalaS is to blaming #Internet and the social media for the misinformation, this is an clear attempt to silence the voices against his administration and the governments incompetence. Still the opposition is silent! #KeepItOn#SriLankaAttacks
"We were planning to lift the Social media restriction today. But yesterday there were lot of wrong information shared so we are reconsidering it now. I will meet the heads of these social media platforms today. I may ban it completely if this is not controlled" President
2. Apart from the inefficiencies in law-enforcement and governments #InternetBan is risking citizens lives by blocking access to internet and undermining accurate reporting. #KeepItOn#SriLankaAttacks
1. Why #InternetBan is dangerous? #SriLanka police wrongfully released a picture of @amaramaj as a suspect in #EasterSundayAttacksLK Even with the #LKA governments #InternetBan journalists and people managed to circulate the @amaramaj statement posted on Facebook…
Amara Majeed (@amaramaj) whose picture appears erroneously alongside the name Abdul Cader Fatima Kadiya, named by #lka Police as suspect in the #EasterSundayAttacksLK, has issued a statement rejecting any involvement. Police have also issued a statement saying image incorrect.
#SriLanka government risks furthering the #EasterSundayAttacksSL terrorist agenda of cultivating fear, civil unrest and and damaging the economy by imposing a #InternetShutdown and blocking access to social media, websites and services.
Report: Social media and messaging apps are still blocked in #SriLanka 75 hours after restrictions were introduced. Now, data shows a new wave of VPN blocks limiting media coverage and free expression in the wake of the attacks #SriLankaBombings#KeepItOn

And make an effort to understand; violence in #lka began before social media, Internet, telephony.
To a large extent much of race hatred is still fuelled by print media in this country.
You want to point fingers, at least do your research into a complex history.
Dear #American journalists:
For the love of whatever you hold holy, stop twisting this incident to serve your anti-Facebook technovalley politics.
Right now, in a country with tight government controls on trad media, social media is a boon for us. #lka
3. FB operated in Sri Lanka without translating the community guidelines and without staff to moderate the service. Now even the opposition is silent about this because, of course they would hate to loose the power to control the flow of information. #KeepItOn#SriLankaAttacks
1. @JaneLytv That is because @facebook is probably collaborating on the state imposed #InternetBan behind the scene. Last year FB officials met with #SriLanka government officials behind the closed doors and government was happy about how Facebook agreed to cooperate at the end.
2. Free speech and other user rights are not @facebook concern when it comes to #SriLanka they did not engage with the community Their ignorance led the way to first widespread #InternetShutdown in February 2018 and now they are silent about this.
