On 3 September 2013, the song ‘The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)’ was released.
The song and video ended up becoming a viral phenomenon, garnering over 1.2 billion views on YouTube as of September 2026.
The electronic dance novelty song was created by Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis. It was originally made as an “anti-hit” produced to promote the duo’s new season of the Norwegian television talk show ‘I kveld med YLVIS’ ('Tonight with Ylvis').
The song peaked at the top of the Norwegian Singles Chart and was successful in the United States, where it peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks.
In 2013, Ylvis stated there were no plans to release an album including the song or any sequel to it.
