Frontline activist in Somalia are joining the Born Perfect Campaign✊
Today, our frontline partners at @IfrahFoundation officially launched the Born Perfect Caravans in Galmudug, bringing together key government ministries, justice actors, religious leaders, parliamentarians, women's groups and civil society organisations around a shared goal: turning Somalia's FGM law into action.
In a country where 99% of women and girls are cut, local activists will travel through 9 FGM hotspot communities in Galmudug, bringing the recent criminalisation of FGM into remote communities where women and girls are most vulnerable.
At each stop, frontliners on the Born Perfect Caravan will be joined by local influencers, religious leaders, media, police officials, doctors, and survivors to expose the religious, medical, and legal realities of FGM, and encourage its collective abandonment.
The message is clear: girls are born perfect.
Thank you to the German government and German Embassy of Nariobi @GermanyinKenya for believing in the frontline women of Somalia and Kenya.
With the trust and experience to fight FGM in their local communities, grassroots women and activists are driving real change on the ground faster than ever before - something that externally implemented projects have struggled to do for decades.

With support from @GermanyinKenya, we launched the #BornPerfectCaravans project in #Galmudug through a stakeholder engagement on media production to raise awareness of & support the implementation of the #anti_FGM law. The event was officiated by the Minister of Women & HRD.
With funding from #NetworkForSocialChange, we conducted community outreach sessions in educational centers to raise awareness about #FGM and promote positive social norms. Through these efforts, we reached more than 500 students and 100 parents in Baidoa. #EndFGM@DearDaughterC
Through #SASATogether, we conducted community mobilization activities in #Baidoa IDP camps, raising awareness on preventing harmful social norms, including #FGM, & promoting positive behavior change. Together, we are building safer & more resilient communities. #EndFGM#EndGBV
Change starts with communities. Through #SASATogether, local activists, community leaders, & institutional Allies in #Baidoa are leading dialogue sessions that challenge the continuation of #FGM & inspire collective action to #EndFGM.Thanks to @RESCUEorg & @Sweden for the support
We are proud to be part of this important initiative, working alongside local partners & communities to generate evidence, measure impact, and accelerate efforts to end FGM. Together, we can create lasting change. #EndFGM#BornPerfect.

Local activists are launching 3 impact measurement studies across regions in East Africa where over 95% of girls are mutilated.
Supported by impact measurement experts at Vivid Research and DataMill, local researchers are gathering qualitative and quantitative data across Somalia and Kenya to understand where attitudes towards FGM stand before the frontline-led campaign rolls out.
A baseline survey was carried out this week by local partners at the @IfrahFoundation in Galmadug, Somalia, as they prepare to bring the Born Perfect Caravans to FGM hot-spot communities in the region. In the Kenyan regions of Wajir and Garissa, local activists are doing the same.
This is how we measure what works, and what doesn't. Yet, too often, programmes run without their real impact being measured.
This summer, grassroots activists will be joined by local influencers and travel village to village with news of the recent FGM bans, bringing legal, religious and medical messaging directly to communities where girls are vulnerable to mutilation.

A revolution is happening across Africa: hundreds of local women are changing minds on FGM - at average of 79%.
Grassroots women are delivering real change on-the-ground with the Born Perfect Campaign. Impact results from the Liberia pilot campaign in February 2026 are here: 85% of those who recall the Born Perfect Bus Tour pilot said it changed their minds about FGM.
See the Liberia Impact Study here 👉 https://t.co/e4clDou0Qo
The pilot, funded by @Irish_Aid and @UN_Women , shows that when local activists travel into remote communities, tell people that FGM is unnecessary, illegal, and harmful to their daughters, parents listen.
Next, the Born Perfect Caravans and media campaigns are launching in Somalia, led by frontline women at the @IfrahFoundation .
