There was a time I was working as a door supervisor/security in a night club.

Club closes at 5am and there was a stabbing outside. We’ve locked our doors before this happened though.

If you know city centres in England very well, you know the police is always lurking around.

The police arrested few folks but not sure they caught the actual guy who stabbed.

Next day, we got messages that everyone has been invited to a meeting with the police on Monday. From where to where? I had nothing to do with the stabbing, so what’s the meeting about?

Long story short, they reviewed CCTV from outside our club, and some street cameras. The guy who stabbed someone was part of the crowd who walked out of our club when we shut the doors, so they assumed we didn’t search him before he entered our club.

They asked us to demo how we search, we did, and they were fine with it. They asked us to bring the handheld metal detectors and demo how we use it, we did.

They showed the guy coming in and we searched him, but for some reason, he got in with the knife…and he was with it throughout while clubbing.

They put our club on serious watch, I’m sure if anything else happened after that, they’ll probably shut it.

I’ve worked elsewhere, where there was a serious incident and they shut the place down for a while. Nightlife is crazy in the UK, if you work on doors, stay safe out there.
