All IGCA exhibitions begin as a proposal through our Proposal Portal at https://t.co/eUU7uVx4Ns. Whether you have a vision for an independent exhibition, a group show or a curated endeavor, please consider applying. Every proposal is thoughtfully reviewed and considered.
We will not be hosting a First Friday opening event.
Also, please note the new gallery hours: Wednesday - Saturday, 12 - 4 pm, except Thursdays when we will be open from 4 - 8 pm
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy while viewing art at the IGCA.
IGCA will be reopening with our July exhibitions. We are looking forward to opening our doors to the public once again, and have been working hard to develop the systems/resources to support our volunteers in this “new normal”, as well as safely welcome visitors into the space.
These efforts are detailed on our website - https://t.co/9ZkKFnaN2E include:
—Limiting the number of visitors in the space at any one time to maintain the suggested 6 ft distancing
—Required mask wearing (as mandated by the Municipality of Anchorage)
—Hand sanitizer availability

Originally scheduled for exhibition this month, Ruby’s exhibition has been postponed due to covid-19, and she will now present new work in January 2021. In the meantime, we are sharing a wonderful Q&A with Ruby where you can learn more about the artist and her projects...
Thanks to Ruby for taking the time to do this interview and for sharing so much insight into her artistic work and process. We are looking forward to Ruby’s midwinter exhibition! Check it out on our blog: https://t.co/lC8rEZz4xQ
In addition to Ethan Lauesen’s prints on display in the IGCA windows this month, we are also featuring work by several UAA BFA students. Due to Covid-19, these graduating students were not able to hold their BFA thesis exhibitions in the UAA Kimura Gallery this spring...
...Aileen Page and Kimberlyn Sheldon (display coming later this month) are sharing a preview of their work in our windows until they are able to hold their exhibitions. Aileen’s work will be on display for the next two weeks, followed by Kimberlyn’s work...
Although our Covid-19 closure continues, we will carry on our online and window display efforts this May. Both artists who had exhibitions scheduled for this month, Fairbanks artist Ethan Lauesen and Anchorage artist Ruby Suzanna have been rescheduled to next year...
We are disappointed to not be able to share their exhibitions with you this month, but in the meantime stay tuned for interviews with both artists later this month and be sure to go and see the group of etchings by Ethan that are on display in the left IGCA windows this May!
April is National Volunteer Month and to celebrate we published a series of Q&As with our volunteers who IGCA, a non-profit and primarily volunteer-run organization, could not exist without. Learn about these fabulous people in our community on our blog: https://t.co/nK6kMfReS4
We love how our community is still finding ways to share art. The @igca_alaska's 2020 Members Exhibition of work by Alaska artists can now be seen from both windows and will rotate on a weekly basis.
