Today we presented the results of our research project in Boston to 200+ people at the #GiantJamboree Thanks to everyone who came to our presentation! #iGEM2018
Strong start from @igemgroningen introducing their StyGreen project, making green plastics from cellulose via glucose and styrene #igem2018 https://t.co/dxKT2ZHmhp
A couple of outstanding talks in this #igem2018 Manufacturing session from @igemgroningen and @igem_stuttgart Wouldn’t be surprised to see either of these teams again on Sunday!
We want to thank IGEM 2018 Utrecht for arranging an interview with the NRC Handelsblad! During the interview we talked about the iGEM competition and about the field of synthetic biology on several different levels. #Groningen#iGEM#NRC#Science#RUG
Plastic is currently made from fossil fuels, but what if we could use waste instead? How are we making this happen in our lab?
Get a sneak peek into our project by watching this video!

Today we got a lecture by dr. Pim Frederix on molecular dynamics: using a computer to simulate the movement of atoms and molecules. We hope to use molecular dynamics to getmore insight in how our cells break down cellulose. #iGEM#Groningen#RUG#Science#Modeling#MD
Would you like to know what we are trying to do with our project? Here's a nice animation we made in order to visualize our strategy! :D

Last tuesday Edwin Poorte from Troyka Innovations organized a TRIZ workshop for us. During the action lab we used several methods to identify the problems in our project, and searched for ways to solve them together with our partners from EV Biotech Linda Dijkshoorn and Jey Lunev
We just had a productive meeting with biotech specialist Gert-Jan Euverink We talked about the challenges of making growth medium from cellulose derived from sewerage, potential optimization of our metabolic pathways and his project CADOS: https://t.co/NSmTDcY52a
