¡Feliz Domingo!
Speaking from her hospital bed, American Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that settlers were trying to help her up “such a lie and the biggest insult,” explaining: “They were actually trying to rob me further.”
"The soldiers' accounts ... suggests that the high casualty figures the army calls collateral damage were not isolated mishaps or individual identification errors, but the result of a strike policy stretched to its limits."
¡Feliz Lunes! Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Pilar. La Santísima Virgen María, en carne mortal, se apareció en Zaragoza sobre una columna o pilar alentando al apóstol Santiago en su evangelización por tierras españolas.

Illustrating today's Mass readings:
The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures
where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me;
he revives my soul.
– Psalm 22:2-3a, which is today's psalm at Mass for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

🚨An urgent appeal from Fr. Bashar Fawadleh, the Latin parish priest of the Christian village of Taybeh: families are struggling to reach their land during the olive harvest, while Israeli settlers steal their olives and damage their trees.
Please share his appeal. Taybeh’s farmers need protection, safe access to their land, and our solidarity. They must not be left to face this alone.
“Dear Friends,
I write to you with sadness and growing concern for the people of Taybeh, our Christian village in the West Bank.
During this year's olive harvest, many families have faced serious difficulties accessing their land. In some areas, olives have been stolen and trees damaged, reducing a harvest that is essential for the livelihood of our community.
For generations, olive trees have provided not only income, but also a deep connection to our history, our heritage, and the land on which our families have lived for centuries. The olive harvest is both an economic necessity and an important expression of our identity and perseverance.
This year, the losses have been particularly painful. Many families will produce far less olive oil than they need for their own households. Some who have spent their lives caring for these trees may now find themselves unable to rely on the fruits of their own land.
We are deeply concerned about the impact this situation will have on families who are already facing significant challenges. Every lost harvest places additional pressure on people striving to remain on their land and preserve their way of life.
We therefore ask for your solidarity and your prayers. Please help raise awareness of these difficulties and encourage all those with influence and responsibility to support the protection of farmers, ensure safe access to agricultural land, and help prevent further damage.
Your support, your voice, and your friendship are a source of encouragement. They remind the people of Taybeh that they are not forgotten and that they do not stand alone in these challenging times.
With gratitude and prayers,
Fr. Bashar Fawadleh
Latin Parish Priest of Taybeh
Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.”

“Jews have a right to everything before Arabs in this country,” an IDF soldier told Palestinians while blocking access to their own olive grove. Settlers, however, were allowed to stay. At least 14 Palestinians were wounded, and at least 7 were detained over the weekend.
This is the second weekend of the olive harvest in the West Bank. For 80,000 to 100,000 Palestinian families, it provides a major of income. And for that very reason, the harvest is heavily targeted by settler terrorists and the IDF. In many areas of the West Bank, mostly near settlements, Palestinians are forced to obtain an IDF permit to reach their groves. The military often severely restricts access or denies it outright. Where permits aren’t required, settlers attack harvesters, and the IDF then comes in to back them up.
Near Birzeit, a group of Palestinians and Rabbis for Human Rights activists came to harvest, only to be attacked with clubs by settler terrorists who had broken into the grove. The activists called the IDF, which allowed the terrorists to stay, but detained a Palestinian farmer and ordered all the harvesters to leave. Last week, the IDF explicitly warned olive grove owners that they would not be allowed to harvest their olives if solidarity activists were present. This is only one example of how settlers, terrorists, and the IDF work together to prevent Palestinians from harvesting their olives.
Since the harvest began, @Yesh_Din has documented at least 109 incidents of settler violence directly related to the harvest in 75 localities across the West Bank. Settler terror, however, is only the tip of the iceberg. It is the IDF that plays the central role. The IDF not only protects settler terrorists, sometimes even as they steal olives or attack Palestinians right before soldiers’ eyes. It also maintains a permit system that makes harvesting nearly impossible for tens of thousands of Palestinian farmers.
Attacks on the olive harvest are part of Israel’s broader policies of ethnic cleansing and annexation in the West Bank. Through terror and destroyed livelihoods, Palestinians are forced off their land. Since October 2023, over 4,700 Palestinians, roughly half of them children, have been displaced.

In awarding this year’s #NobelPeacePrize, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wants to remind the world that the rule of law – national and international – underpins the system we have set up to ensure peace and resolve conflicts non-violently. Peace requires justice.
History has shown that a world operating without the rule of law is unjust, unwise and inhumane. The judges – those who guard the thin red line between order and chaos – are therefore highly deserving of our praise. But today, as these same judges are sanctioned, and their institutions are attacked, we need people of courage, vision and determination – qualities that 2026 peace laureate Navi Pillay demonstrates in her work on the bench.

O God, who bestowed on the Priest Saint John Henry Newman the grace to follow your kindly light and find peace in your Church; graciously grant that, through his intercession and example, we may be led out of shadows and images into the fulness of your truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The IDF continues demolitions in Masafer Yatta in the West Bank. In September, four Masafer Yatta communities faced mass demolitions, leaving more than 200 people homeless, many of them children.
Today, Netanyahu said of Palestinians:
"The education toward hatred of Jews and Israelis runs in their blood. They simply suck it in with their mother's milk."
This is a manufactured excuse for killing Palestinian children, and it is the language of collective dehumanization.
I have never heard a Palestinian leader say this about Israeli children. If one ever has, it is just as disgusting, unacceptable, and genocidal.
