@pusheenezee@LovelyLaurenOG@BPTheIris I didn't state that men are only attracted to young women, and the chart doesn't reveal that either. They generally prefer younger women, and I already laid out why this preference is dominant, but they're also attracted to older women. All this makes evolutionary sense.
@seIkysoft@LovelyLaurenOG@BPTheIris Advanced maternal age poses a much greater overall risk to pregnancy and child health outcomes than advanced paternal age (especially in the past), so the preference for older women has been naturally selected against.
@seIkysoft@LovelyLaurenOG@BPTheIris I'm not excusing anything, just contradicting a hypothesis. Your claim is beside the point. The mutational load increase in sperm as men age doesn't significantly impact their reproductive success (most mutations contributed by older fathers are harmless). 1/2
@LovelyLaurenOG@BPTheIris had more offspring than those whose mates were older, or too young, throughout our evolutionary course. Meaning this preference was naturally selected for. It's unlikely that the development of complex patriarchal systems affected it.
@LovelyLaurenOG@BPTheIris I'm confused about what you view as natural selection. Preference for women in their late teens/early adulthood became a norm via natural selection. They're more likely to get pregnant + have the greatest remaining reproductive lifespan, so men who preferred younger women 1/2
@hi41710621@seymourtherat@McJuggerNuggets I disagree. Under a strict definition, eugenics is necessarily concerned with heredity. The Nazis had a broad program that went beyond eugenics.
@MaryJeanEmJay@ACSPARTAN1@anon_gencrit People often defend the death penalty for child sex offenders without thinking of the second order effects that could have. Abusers might be more likely to kill their victims in that scenario, and less people would report these crimes.
@JimBriton@ACSPARTAN1@mickredsontop That could make it more likely for abusers to kill their victims and would stop lots of people from reporting the crime.
@elegationvain I don't have a spouse, but I believe that if I did, I'd find this request sensible and ask them to take it as well. Assuming it has 100% accuracy and is free of cost, it's optimal to take it. Female.
@BlueBellBetty@Acyn Your last statement is blatantly false. A high percentage of those with major depression don't improve on antidepressants. Some feel worse on them. And feeling better on them is not proof they work. Antidepressants have been shown to elicit a very strong placebo effect.
