It's not easy to do and it will take time, but you can do it.
To speed things up find a local teacher with experience helping people just like you succeed.

Learning to fingerpick on guitar is a skill many players want to have.
But, most do not think they can achieve it.
Many try, find it too difficult and decide it's not meant to be.
That's not likely the case.

Plus, you also have to figure out how to coordinate your two hands as the same time!
If you persist, you will get used to it, and in time it will be quite comfortable.

It's normal to feel uncomfortable when you first pick up a guitar and try to learn.
It's not a natural way to hold your hands.
This is one major reason that it is more difficult to learn at the start.

Kids develop at different rates so the best thing to do is assess them.
If you think your child is ready to play or if you are not sure contact us today and we can start a conversation to find out.
They may be ready to get started!

At what age can a child learn to play guitar, piano or bass?
Good question!
Age is not the best measure of readiness to play guitar.
It depends on many factors.
How long can they pay attention and stay focused on a task?
How far along is their physical development?

Play your guitar standing up.
If you are just starting out you may want to wait until you are more comfortable playing.
It will feel awkward at first because you can't lean your guitar back.
But, this will help your skills develop to another level.

Spending a little extra for a quality guitar, piano or bass will get you started on the right foot.
If you aren't sure ask your teacher for help before you buy - not a salesperson.

Don't cheap out when learning to play an instrument.
You don't have to buy the most expensive one either.
Cheap instruments tend to be harder to play, don't sound as good and can break easily.

Life's busy.
We are always on the go for work, kids, families, etc.
We end up stretching ourselves too thin to get everything done and neglect our own mental health.
The best and safest way I have found to counter this is to play an instrument like guitar, piano or bass.
Breaking up practice sessions into smaller pieces has benefits.
Several sessions through the day is better than a big one.
This makes it more likely that you will stay focused for the entire shorter session.
This helps you progress more in the same amount of practice time.

It won't take long for you to get up to your top speed and that's where mistakes happen.
No one is going to notice or care if you do not play something at perfect song speed.
They will be happy to be playing together - because it's a lot of fun.

When you are playing music with others and you are leading ...
... make sure to start playing your songs slower than you are able to.
The general tendency in this situation is to speed up as you play.
