A deputy walks within 18 inches and faces him. As he backs away the deputy advances again. This happens three times.

The line that stuck: they NEED to identify who he is.

Georgia is not a stop-and-ID state for a pedestrian who is only recording from a sidewalk.

Filming a police station from public property is protected.

Asking is one thing.

Treating “who are you” as the opening move—and making it the whole encounter—is how these videos get made.

❓Should a police officer say “I need to identify who you are” before identifying themselves by name?
