The 13th Warrior (1999) was panned on release, but it’s aged into a mythic cult favorite. Actually it was famously reworked after test screenings, with McTiernan brought in to reshoot & re-edit large portions & Jerry Goldsmith replacing the original score
Big Trouble in Little China (1986) isn’t just 80s action cheese. John Carpenter crafted it as a playful send-up of martial arts and adventure tropes, blending comedy, mysticism, and pure spectacle into something uniquely subversive.
The iconic opening chase in District 13 (2004) was performed by David Belle, the creator of parkour, whose discipline was shaped by his father’s training as part of an elite Paris fire brigade unit.
The elevator fight in Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) just hits different, tight space, no room to breathe, and McClane fighting like he’s already exhausted. One of the best moments in the film.
In Heat, Val Kilmer just did it better.
Pacino is the same Pacino.
De Niro is the same De Niro.
But Kilmer was truly at the top of his game.
He could communicate so many emotions without saying a word..
One of the saddest scenes of all time.
One of Jason Williams’ most disrespectful playoff moments came in 2000 vs the Los Angeles Lakers.
Off a Vlade Divac block, “White Chocolate” grabs it, freezes Kobe Bryant like he just unplugged his controller, then fires a no-look pass.

That staircase fight in The Protector (2005) is a crazy piece of action filmmaking. Tony Jaa tearing through the building in one continuous shot while the camera just keeps climbing with him.
