My #FGM Torture
"I Was Circumcised Twice (8 And 13 Years Old); Second Time Was Because Some Soldiers Raped Me A Girl Told Me She Was Circumcised With A Broken Glass!"
Ifrah Ahmed Recounts:
"When I was 8 years old, I was circumcised by my grandmother's brother; he was a doctor.
Ending FGM in Kenya: Real Progress, Real Change on the Ground.
In just one year, our frontline teams have reached over 30,000 people across West Pokot, Isiolo, and Tharaka Nithi through community caravans, local radio, and youth engagement.
And the impact is clear:
✅ Over 20 girls protected during peak cutting season
✅ 115 men and 100 community leaders publicly denouncing FGM
✅ 19 anti-FGM committees now actively monitoring and preventing cases
✅ Communities beginning to report suspected cases for the first time
From public declarations in villages like Lomut and Marembo, to young men committing not to marry circumcised women, we are seeing a growing collective rejection of FGM across communities.
As we move into Year 2 of the EU-funded Komesha FGM SASA! programme, we are scaling our efforts in some of the most remote and high-risk areas—because every girl deserves protection.

I’m so honoured to step into the role of CEO at @MalalaFund.
Leading our work in Nigeria has been a privilege - learning from incredible partners and seeing firsthand what education makes possible for girls.
So grateful to Lena Alfi, for her leadership, and to @Malala, @ZiauddinY and the board for their trust.
This is a Mindset MUST-watch.

We can become exactly who we want to become.
We can control our thoughts.
We can control our mind.
We can make that 8-year version of us proud!
Having this perspective at age 22 is just awesome. 🥇
From one voice to hundreds, from one community to many.
We are grateful for every activist and grassroots organization that has trusted us at @IGRHDev with their growth journey. Together, we are building a movement that lasts and proving that community-led change works.
Over the years, we have trained 567 grassroots activists across 10 cohorts and strengthened the capacity of multiple local organizations to lead ethical, effective, and community-centered advocacy against FGM and SGBV.
Our ED @AyoBello0 will always say passionately, "I want to give activists what I did not have access to when I started campaigning".
From community entry to project management, media engagement to survivor-centered approaches, we don’t just run programs, we BUILD people.
We live in a visual world — and how we use social media can determine whether vital frontline work is seen, understood, and supported.
Tomorrow, we’re hosting a practical training session for frontline activists and NGOs working to end Female Genital Mutilation across Africa, focusing on how to use LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to amplify impact, strengthen visibility, and connect with global partners and donors.

Dr Paul Awoniyi reiterates the need to involve boys in our advocacy saying they need help to understand that violence and manipulation are not the right ways to exact authority as men and boys. As we forge ahead in our impactful work, we will continually engage men and boys.
Interesting and meaningful conversations as we partner with Center for Gender, Obafemi Awolowo University and Osun state ministry of education on ways to incoporate men and boys into the #SheMustKnow project
#menandboys#SheMustKnow#igrhdeducates#explorepage
Statistics indicate that men & boys are the primary perpetrators of GBV globally, with research showing that over 80-95% of perpetrators in various contexts are male. While GBV impacts all genders, the overwhelming majority of perpetrators are men.
Welcome to one of our favourite months in the year, not only because it's d month of love, but because we get to commemorate Zero Tolerance Day for FGM #feb6 💃🥳We are very keen on commemorating UN calendar days that are in line with our mission & vision at @IGRHDev#ZTDs💃
Strong movements are built on strong people. When local organizations and frontline activists receive hands-on training, practical mentorship, and certified capacity-building programs, they perform better and drive real change.
Life of a Frontline Activist👌 Nifemi, prepping over 100 adolescent girls of Ife Girl's High School for the #SheMustKnow Project. It takes a lot of skill to mobilize adolescents and get them to pay full attention. You have to be gentle, soft spoken but firm.

Behind every impact story is a table like this.
People who care.
People who plan.
People who persist.
Here’s to another week of showing up for girls and women.

My #FGM Heartbreak💔
"I Thought It Was Evil Spirits That Killed My Baby-Boys During Childbirth - I Didn’t Know It Was #FGM!"
Abebech Yacob Recounts:
"I was 14 years old when they tied my legs with rope and cut off my genitals. I bled for almost 12 hours. I was almost dead.
